Care Built on Compassion, Driven by Purpose
We Started James River Because Families Deserved Better
Since 2013, James River Home Health & Hospice has been serving Virginia with one clear mission: to knowledgeably and compassionately meet the needs of our clients and families by delivering individualized home health and hospice care of the highest quality in the comfort of your own home.
We’re not a national chain answering to distant corporate offices. We’re a locally focused organization built by people who’ve spent decades working directly with patients and families, people who saw gaps in care and decided to do something about it.
Today, our team of 320 skilled professionals serves thousands of patients across seven locations throughout the state of Virginia. But our size hasn’t changed what drives us: exceptional patient care, genuine responsiveness, and the belief that every person deserves dignity, comfort, and compassionate support.
Every decision we make and every care plan we create starts here.
To knowledgeably and compassionately meet the needs of our clients and families by delivering individualized home care of the highest quality.
Quality above all.
We don’t cut corners. We hire skilled, experienced clinicians. We invest in training. We hold ourselves to the highest clinical standards and earned ACHC accreditation to prove it.
Individualized care, every time.
No two patients are the same, so no two care plans should be either. We build each plan around the person and what matters most to them and their family.
Responsiveness that you can count on.
When you call, we answer. When needs change, we adjust. When there’s a crisis, we’re there.
Compassion in action.
We treat every patient the way we’d want our own family members treated: with respect, dignity, kindness, and genuine care.
Support for the whole family.
We provide education, emotional support, and resources for family caregivers because we know you need care too.
Guided by Experience, Driven by Compassion
Behind every care decision, every quality standard, and every team member at James River is a leadership team committed to one goal: ensuring every patient and family receives exceptional care.
Our leaders bring decades of combined experience in hospice, home health, healthcare operations, and clinical excellence. But more importantly, they understand what families are going through, because many have walked similar paths themselves. They’ve built James River on the belief that care should be individualized, responsive, and deeply human, and they hold our entire organization accountable to that standard every single day.
